Lucia and Grand had an awesome wedding at Le Jardin Conference and Event Centre in Woodbridge!  It’s pretty cool when everything (ceremony, reception, photos) are all at one location and there isn’t a lot of travel involved.  Especially when that one location looks as awesome as Le Jardin does!  I think one of my favourite parts of the night was watching the slide show they put together of all of their photos from growing up.  I think that might be both the weirdest and most interesting part about being a wedding photographer — you get these brief snippits into peoples’ lives and sometimes (like when there’s a cool slide show) you get to see a highlight reel of their entire life without even really knowing them.  I’ve been lucky enough to work with some pretty awesome couples so it’s always nice to see their goofy, tender, and memorable moments and know they’ll go along nicely with their wedding photos.

Oula and Denis had a huge (and multi-cultural!) wedding at the Hellenic Meeting and Reception Centre in Ottawa!  This was the first wedding I’ve shot where the reception speeches were in English, French, and Arabic!  It’s fun because it keeps me on my toes and helps you really focus in on the moments when you aren’t 100% sure what people are saying or what’s coming next.  Oula and Denis both have really warm, friendly families, though, so it made my job pretty easy.  Here’s a slide show of some of my favourite images (warning: the slide show has a LOT of photos, so get comfy!).  Special thanks to Jodi Laundry from Daydream Photography in Ottawa for second shooting with me!

Here’s the slide show for Colleen and Adam’s wedding!  Although it’s been a pretty rainy spring and summer so far, we lucked out and the rain held off for their ceremony and portraits.  There WAS a crazy lightning storm on Wolfe Island later on in the night, though!  And since we were at the Vimy Officer’s Mess for the reception, we had a pretty sweet view of the show right behind Adam and Colleen’s head table.  Enjoy the photos, and try not to Hulk out in front of the Queen’s PEC too much!  :D

ISPWP Real Weddings
April 6th, 2009

I’m a member of the ISPWP (International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers) and they recently selected one of my weddings to showcase in their new “Real Weddings” section!  You can check out some highlight images from Marsha & Marc’s wedding here!  But the nice thing about the site is that they do frequent updates to their blog with other photographers’ photos, stories, links, etc.  It’s a great spot for brides to check out (and visit often) because, not only can you find a great photographer from their listings, but you can browse cool images and get lots of killer ideas.  There are some pretty awesome photos of little details, flowers, dresses, venues, and more.  You can check out the main ISPWP website here:

Marsha & Marc
February 7th, 2009

I haven’t had the opportunity to shoot very many winter weddings in the last few years, so I was really excited for Marsha & Marc’s January wedding at The Paramount in Woodbridge.  Besides being a really cool couple, they were brave enough to run outside in the freezing cold for some outdoor portraits (which I think were totally worth it)!  And Marc’s brother also mentioned in his speech that they watched the entire series of Lost on DVD over the course of a few weeks.  No wonder we got along so well!  Here’s a slideshow with highlights from their day:

Amie & Shem
November 19th, 2008

Amie & Shem had an awesome ceremony in Kitchener at the Sacred Heart Church and a reception filled with Polish songs, dancing, and traditions!  Live bands are always awesome at weddings, and Amie and Shems’ band did not disappoint!  And the Polish food was pretty spectacular as well.

I do have to tell one negative story about the wedding though:  I got really, really car sick!  I haven’t been car sick in YEARS, but we took a Hummer limo from Amie’s house to the church, and I think the ride was over an hour long.  Luckily we made a quick pit stop half way so I was able to get some air and try to make my legs walk without turning into jelly.  I think I was a pretty terrible shade of green, too.  I can look back at it now and smile and laugh at the situation, but I was almost out of commission!  So lesson learned:  if the limo is a Hummer, I’ll take my own car.  Or a cab.  Or I’ll walk.  Or teleport.  Anything but the Hummer limo, for it is my new nemesis.  On to the slide show!

Grace & Benny
November 18th, 2008

Here’s the slideshow from Grace & Benny’s wedding in Toronto!  Again, we lucked out with some awesome weather and were able to do portraits at Edwards Gardens with a whole lot of yellow leaves in the background.  Colour is a good thing.  My favourite part of the wedding had to be the reception, though — Grace and Benny entered the hall with a duet!  And then they kept singing more songs throughout the night!  I wish I had the courage (and the voice!) to get up like that and sing in front of a room full of friends and family!  Here’s the slideshow:

Nikki & Lloyd
November 14th, 2008

Here’s the slide show for Nikki and Lloyd’s wedding at Strathmere!  The day started off in proper fashion with some Rock Band and ended with some Depeche Mode while everyone danced the night away!  The weather held out juuuuust enough so they could have their ceremony outside!  And naming the tables after awesome bands — Queen, The Rolling Stones, the Ramones, The Beatles — was a great touch!  Any wedding that features an impromptu crowd singing Bohemian Rhapsody AND references to Rock Band and World of Warcraft is okay in my books.  This is the second wedding I’ve shot at Strathmere and it’s a really cool venue — kind of a rustic feel with great staff and accomodations, located just outside of Ottawa!

Amy & Rob
October 10th, 2008

Here’s the slide show for Amy and Rob’s wedding near Westport at the scenic Stepping Stone Inn!  Highlights include a crazy dragonfly that I’m pretty sure had a crush on Amy, an awesome outdoor ceremony overlooking a beautiful pond (with an amazing sky as a backdrop), and a surprise song that Rob played for Amy on his guitar.  Enjoy the photos!
