……and here’s their wedding slide show!  Ceremony at St. James church near Queen’s University campus and reception at the awesome Renaissance, on Queen Street.  Love that place.  And check out the car that John’s dad let them drive for the wedding!  Pretty sweet ride!  :D

Since Patrycja and John live out of the province, we didn’t get a chance to do an engagement shoot until the week of their wedding!  But it worked out well because the weather co-operated and we had a great chance to get to know each other a bit more and get comfortable shooting.  We started our shoot in Amherstview (Patrycja’s mom lives right down the street from me!) and finished in the west end of Kingston for a bit of variety.  Here are some of my favourites:

Calverly Family
August 14th, 2009

Shooting families is always fun because it’s such a different dynamic than a wedding day (and sometimes it’s nice not shooting a dress and a tux)!  Jackie emailed me about doing some family photos at Lemoine Point and here are some of my favourites.  I like that we were able to get a mix of traditional portaits (the kind for framing on the wall and to send to aunts and uncles) and also a bit of weirder, more artsy stuff (maybe also for framing, if you’re weird like me).  :D

Glasses?!
August 13th, 2009

I hadn’t had my eyes checked in about 5 years, so when my wife randomly suggested I go, it was a good idea.  Turns out I have astigmatism in my left eye (my shooting eye!  Nooooo!) and I need glasses.  It’s weird suddenly having to wear glasses when you’re neither really young or really old.  Most people either already have glasses when you meet them, or will never have glasses it seems.  I don’t mind them so far, because they make everything really crisp and clear (I had no idea my eyes were as fuzzy as they are), but they DO distort things a bit and change my angle of view.  I feel like I’m looking through a wide angle lens.  Now I just need to figure out if I’m going to shoot with my glasses on or off.  Here I am, looking thrilled to be wearing my new glasses.  :D

More Ottawa Family Photos!
August 6th, 2009

I did a marathon family photo shoot in Ottawa a while back and when other families saw the results they wanted to do the same thing!  So I went back and shot another group of families at Andrew Haydon Park again! A new family arrived every 30 minutes starting at about 8:30 am and lasting until around 6 pm and I think we ended up with some nice variety.  Here’s a slide show of some of my favourites:

Need To Relax?
August 4th, 2009

Behold: the most relaxing video in the history of relaxing videos!  Sit back and enjoy the fish.

The song is “Please Don’t Go” by Barcelona.

I had only been to Wolfe Island once before (to go apple picking with my wife) so when Eleanor and Robin told me they were getting married on the island I was pretty psyched.  It’s kind of like one of those things where you live in a city for a while and you never seem to get a chance to explore local attractions and new spots.  We met at Echo Salon in the morning and then hopped on to the ferry to Wolfe Island for the prep, ceremony, and reception (all of which was held at a really cool hunting lodge called “The Cabin”).  Here’s the slide show highlighting the day.  Bonus points to Robin for sporting an awesome green bow tie!

Here’s a link to a collection of photos from the Apollo 11 exploration of the moon.  A few years ago I saw a cool documentary called Dark Side Of The Moon claiming that everything was faked with the help of Stanley Kubrick, but the end credits of the film actually revealed that it was a mockumentary, trying to show how easy it is to manipulate what we believe to be true thanks to clever editing and sound bites.  Either way, this is a pretty cool collection of images.  Check it out.

A few months ago I had the opportunity to take photos for Kingston Life Magazine’s “Community Spirit” section.  The annual Maritime Fest took place at the CFB Kingston Vimy Officer’s Mess, and I got to take photos of groups of people having a good time and enjoying the party (which is always a fun thing to do)!  You can view some of the photos here:

Here’s the slide show for Mary Claire and Greg’s wedding!  Even though the rain was a bit of a bummer (the reception was supposed to be outside) I think we made the best of it with some cool umbrella photos, and Fort Henry did an awesome job hosting the party inside!  Check out how happy everyone is in these photos!  And see if you can spot the special guest appearance by a Garfield-esque mystery cat.
