My Parents Were Awesome
November 16th, 2009

If you’re looking to kill some time, check out My Parents Were Awesome.  Not only is it an interesting collection of pop culture, but it’s a fascinating look at love and relationships and being young in lots of different eras.  There are some videos on the right hand side of the page where the author talks about the site and I totally agree with him — there are a tonne of negative blogs out there filled with cynicism and mean spirited jokes but this site is like a breath of fresh air filled with happy couples in carefree times.

These photos aren’t mine; they’re samples from My Parents Were Awesome.  Check it out.

Brrrrr….

It’s getting cold out!

They started getting ready in Kingston, made their way to Edith Rankin Memorial United Church in Amherstview for the ceremony (just down the street from my house!) and then finished the night at the Loyalist Country Club in Bath where Josh and Sarah had their first date!  Here’s a slide show filled with highlights from the day, including special appearances by Parker (canine Parker, not little boy Parker) and X-Box 360!

Here are some of my favourite photos from Jenni and Justin’s engagement shoot!  We went to a kind-of-sort-of super secret beach area north of Picton.  I’m still not entirely sure where we were, but it was really cool.  Lots of flat rocks and picturesque water!  They’re getting married next year, so this was a good warm up.

Kristine and Jeff has their wedding in Keene, Ontario, which is a really cool little town near Peterborough that looks pretty much exactly like a post card: rolling hills, little farms, nice water views, a cool church and a really nice venue called Elmhirst Resort where everyone started the day by getting ready and everyone finished the night by dancing and having a great time.  Here’s the slide show with some of my favourite images from the day!  Enjoy!

This is the first (and only?) wedding I’ve shot involving “Pirate Tiger”.  See if you can spot the photo.  And also see if you can spot the hard work Sabrina and JP put in to make their wedding awesome.  All of the details were so specific and cohesive and everything just flowed together nicely.  I’ve shot family photos, couple photos, and engagement photos for Sabrina so it was great to be a part of their wedding, too!  Enjoy the slide show!

Special thanks to Lynn Lee from Weddings Unveiled for her awesome co-ordinating (and I agree with Sabrina — blog more)!  :)  And also to Robert Cato from Ioan Films in Montreal for shooting video around us all day.  Hopefully I wasn’t in too many of your shots (but I probably was — sorry)!

Here’s Jasmine and Yeung’s really long slide show!  They had a full, jam-packed day of wedding awesomeness, so I had a really hard time paring the images down for the slide show.  The first half (up to the end of the ceremony) is what I showed at the reception, and this has additional reception photos at the end.  Thanks again for the great day!  And special thanks to Mike and Troy from Still Motion who were like cinematography ninjas, always getting the shots they wanted but seemingly never actually in my shots.  And the short teaser film they showed at the reception was incredible!  I think this slide show might be around 6 or 7 minutes long, so hopefully you have a comfy chair and a nice beverage handy.  Enjoy!

Here’s Bobbi & Geoff’s slide show!  Since they live out west, they did a lot of long-distance planning but everything turned out great!  The day started for Bobbi at Hotel Belvedere (which is pretty awesome, by the way) and then we made our way to Barriefield (which, coincidentally, is also pretty awesome).  It was the first time I’ve shot at St. Mark’s church, and the fifth or sixth time I’ve shot at the RMC Sergeant’s Mess for the reception.  I love Geoff’s red military jacket.  Check it out.

Here’s the slide show from Stephanie and David’s wedding!  Some of the highlights include a beautiful outdoor ceremony at Fort Henry (led by Reverend Oscar Simpson who is always a pleasure to work with!), breaking out the Superman cape during David’s mom’s speech, and a Futurama reference in David’s brother’s speech (”Women are from Omicron Persei 7, men are from Omicron Persei 9″).  Enjoy the photos!

(also, this was another wedding at The Renaissance, which I loooove)

Here’s the slide show from Wendy and Carlos’ wedding!  This was the first time I had the chance to work with Anthony Agostino from Viva Productions so it was cool to see how they worked and talk weddings with them!  Some highlights from the wedding include an awesome ceremony at St. Mary’s Cathedral downtown, a huge wedding party full of photogenic bridesmaids, groomsmen, maids of honour, and flower girls, and Carlos’ hat, which was a tribute to his late grandfather who wore a similar hat!  Enjoy the photos!
