I had posted a video from The Rentals site but it was removed and then altered, and now the new link doesn’t want to work as well.  So just go here to watch it, because it’s cool.  It was the March 31st video with some cool behind-the-scenes footage, and a super catchy new song.

More KTW
March 29th, 2009

From the 5k St. Paddy’s Day Fun Run:

I didn’t know it at the time, but this day ended up being the last day for public skating at the downtown rink.  It’s always cool to see people enjoying the ice, but it’s even better to see the snow melt.

These shots are from an orchid auction by the Kingston Orchid Society.

So far shooting for KTW has been awesome!

Twitter?
March 27th, 2009

So lots of my photography friends have been hooked on Twitter for the last little while but I have to admit that I still don’t really get it.  I have an account, and I’m following a few people and a few people are following me, but it seems kind of tedious to update your tweets and stuff.  I dunno.  I’m still on the fence about it.  But here’s a cartoon that sort of sums up how I feel about it (thanks, Scott!):

Kingston This Week
March 26th, 2009

I recently started working for one of our local newspapers, Kingston This Week, as a freelance photographer!  It’s really cool because I get to shoot things and meet people that I normally wouldn’t.  And I think it’s going to help push my photojournalism skills because I’m trying to find new, creative, and interesting ways to shoot different events that aren’t weddings.  Here are some photos from one of my first assignments, a protest in front of Kingston General Hospital.

This is probably my favourite from the shoot.

As I get more assignments from Kingston This Week I’ll probably end up posting more of my favourites here!

SNL Photo Bumpers
March 23rd, 2009

Although I don’t watch SNL much any more I saw a link to a gallery of bumper photos from the last season or so that were pretty cool.  You can check them out here:

The colour-shift processing is a good fit!

Windmills On Wolfe Island
March 16th, 2009

There had been talk of putting windmills on Wolfe Island for quite a while, but a lot of people thought it wouldn’t actually happen.  Well, it did.  I think they have something like 86 windmills (or, at least, that’s how many they wanted at one point) and I think they look pretty cool.  Today while I was driving downtown I stopped to take a photo of them because I had never really seen them in all of their turbine-y glory.  Behold, the mighty Wolfe Island Wind Farm:
