Victoria & Al
September 22nd, 2008

Even though I shoot weddings in Kingston, Toronto, and Ottawa, it’s always nice to get a chance to shoot near your home town.  I’m originally from Dresden and Victoria and Al were married in Chatham, the nearest big city.  The day started off at the amazing Retro Suites downtown where Victoria and the girls got ready and ended at the North family farm, which was an awesome set up.  Enjoy the slide show!

Lisa & Jason
September 22nd, 2008

Here is Lisa and Jason’s slideshow from their wedding at Terrace On The Green in Brampton.  Although I’ve managed to avoid rain for most of the summer, it wasn’t to be for Lisa and Jason’s outdoor ceremony, but luckily they had an awesome location with a small pavillion for the ceremony and a tent set up for the guests.  Everyone had a great time and we managed to get some cool umbrella-related photos!

Politics & Photography?
September 15th, 2008

Without getting too political, I thought I’d post this awesome link to some pretty nice photojournalism by Damon Winters of the New York Times.  He did a lot of coverage of Barack Obama, and if you check out the story you’ll get to hear some of his insights into the experience while viewing some pretty cool photos.  Thanks to my friend Scott from re:action photography in Kitchener for sending the link along!

Jacqueline & Brad
September 12th, 2008

I’m shooting Jacqueline and Brad’s wedding next summer, but we went out to her family’s farm to do some engagement photos recently!  Farms are awesome for photos because there’s always so much variety and so many nooks and crannies.  We had perfect weather, including a picturesque sunset!  Here are some samples from the shoot.

Days With My Father
September 11th, 2008

If you have the time, check out this brilliant photo esay by Phillip Toledano called “Days With My Father”.  It’s touching, poignant, and the photos are excellent.

Warning:  you might want to get out the tissues first.

Kala & Jevon
September 10th, 2008

Here’s the slideshow for Kala and Jevon’s wedding here in Kingston.  They were married at St. Paul’s Anglican Church (which is the first time I’ve shot there) and had their reception at the brand new Renaissance downtown (which is also the first time I’ve shot there).  Jevon wore his red serge for the ceremony, which was really cool because it added a totally different look to their wedding (having the guardsmen also helped).  Here’s the slideshow:

Phone Number?
September 10th, 2008

So I just got a random anonymous enquiry with no information filled out in the contact form other than this:

“why is there no phone number on your site?”

There actually IS a phone number on the site, it’s just kind of hard to find.  If you go the About page to read stuff about me there’s an option to scroll down because there’s more text off the page.  When you scroll down, you’ll see my phone number (613-389-9793).  I mostly prefer email because we have a little boy that I stay home with (you can see him here:  http://parkerelliott.blogspot.com), although “stay home with” is kind of an exaggeration because we go out a lot.

I also have a cell phone (although I willingly admit to being the worst cell phone user ever, because I never turn it on unless I’m going to or from a wedding) and the number is 613-329-9793.  Hopefully that clears up any mystery surrounding my phone number!

Grace & Ben
September 9th, 2008

Grace and Ben’s wedding is coming up this fall in Toronto, but we were able to do an engagement shoot in Ottawa a few weeks back.  Train tracks and beaches are always a good thing!

I always like to take individual portraits of everyone just because it’s fun and quick to do!  Plus, I remember from my own wedding, one of my favourite photos for the office desk was just a nice portait of my wife.

Lori & Rob
September 9th, 2008

I was talking to Rob the other day and he said, “Lori keeps checking all of your websites to see if our photos are up!  How come you aren’t posting them?”  Here they are!  :)  Lori and Rob had an awesome wedding on their waterfront property in Napanee!  They had a huge tent set up and a catered meal for all of their friends and family to enjoy, and even though it rained a bit everyone still had a blast.  I also ran into Leanne from l.s.p. designs (she did the Lori’s flowers) which was cool because I’ve taken plenty of photos of her work, but hadn’t actually met her in person.  Here are some photos from the wedding!

Lori is very small.  Here is her cocktail-style wedding dress, which was awesome and perfectly suited for her!

Ominous rain clouds!  Ooooooo….

Lori’s dad helping her with her dress.

Lori’s dad walking her down the aisle, complete with paparazzi!

A happy groom!

What’s a wedding without crazy faces?

Mmmmmm…..  cupcakes…….

The awesome tent as guests partied the night away!
