Tanya & Aaron
July 28th, 2008

Tanya & Aaron had an awesome outdoor ceremony at the Highland Country Club in London and the weather held off to allow for a rain-free afternoon!  Here’s the slideshow from their reception, along with a few extra photos as well.  Enjoy!

The cool thing about Facebook is that once I upload your photos, I can tag you in them so all of your friends can check them out!  Big ups to social networking.

Here’s Julie and Mitchell’s slide show from their recent wedding in Cobourg!  I’ve never been to Cobourg before, but it was really nice!  And they have a beach!  Some of the wedding highlights included poker with the guys while getting ready, a Batman watch, photos on said beach, and a DJ with a bubble machine!  Thanks again for choosing me as your photographer, Julie and Mitch!  Nicole and I had a great time, and the wedding was awesome!

(again, the music loops, but that’s what happens when you have such a photogenic couple)

I’m a big Joss Whedon fan, and this is his latest creation: Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog.  It’s a lot like the musical episode of Buffy, but with Nathan Fillion and Neil Patrick Harris.  Check it out if you get a chance — it’s good stuff.  And the freeze ray song is still stuck in my head after watching it a few days ago.  Curse you and your clever writing, Joss Whedon!

Here’s Angela & Josh’s slide show!  They had an awesome wedding at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Hamilton.  Everything was perfect, from the weather, to the live band at the reception (which was the best thing ever, by the way) to Josh’s shoes.  Kudos on the white shoes, my friend.  Kudos.  The slide show runs a bit long and the music has to loop, but there were too many good photos to shorten it down (plus “The Luckiest” by Ben Folds is a great song).  Enjoy!

New Website Music
July 17th, 2008

I’ve wanted to change up the music for a while, and I always thought it would be cool to support a local band or artist.  As of tonight, you can now hear the music of Betablokka as you browse through the galleries and info.  They’re a melodic rock band from Kingston with Coldplay-esque guitar riffs and super catchy vocals and I’m a big fan.  You can pick up their CD (”Reset The Standard For Life In The 21st Century”) from CDBaby.com!

Here’s the graphic that pops up during the intro slideshow on my site.

I participate in a pretty big wedding photographer forum with folks from all around the world, and every now and then a post pops up where someone has found another photographer who has actually stolen someone’s work and claimed it as their own.  This happened the other day and it’s been a big broo-ha-ha with lawyers and stuff getting involved, because EVERY photo on this photographer’s site belonged to someone else.  I won’t name the photographer, but I will say that even though they’re in the States, the web makes the world a lot smaller and people always find this stuff out.  If you’re still in the process of searching for wedding vendors, make sure to be thorough in your questioning because you never know!

Narrow Stairs
July 4th, 2008

Ever listen to an album and think, “Eh, it’s nothing special…” and then put it down and not give it much thought afterwards?  That’s kind of what happened to me and Death Cab For Cutie’s latest album Narrow Stairs.  I’m a HUGE fan of their last two albums and was really psyched when I heard they were releasing a new album.  I think it kind of got lost in the shuffle for me, because I was also listening to Weezer’s new album on endless repeat, occasionally tempered with Coldplay’s new album.  But since the first few listens, I’ve come back to Narrow Stairs and it’s REALLY growing on me.  It just kind of sticks in my brain now, and I really like it from start to finish.  Two of my favourite tracks are “Talking Bird” and “You Can Do Better Than Me”, but they’re all catchy!  It might take a few listens to completely digest it, but it’s totally worth it.  If you’re looking for some new music to drop into the iPod, I definitely recommend Narrow Stairs.
