Who Wants Tickets?
December 1st, 2008

I’m a vendor at the upcoming Wedding Palace Bridal Show in Ottawa so they sent me 10 free tickets (general admission to the show is $15)!  If any past or future clients, friends of clients, or random blog readers are interested in a free ticket to the show on January 3rd and 4th at The Westin, let me know either through a comment here or an email to garrett@garrettelliott.com and I’ll send them to you!  This will be my third year at the show and it’s always pretty good.  Plenty of one-stop shopping for a lot of your wedding needs, or at least good for ideas if you’re still shopping around!

Here’s a scanned group of Polaroids from when I was younger.  I think 6 or 7 maybe?  Note the stylin’ wrist bands and awesome high-tech camera.

Amie & Shem
November 19th, 2008

Amie & Shem had an awesome ceremony in Kitchener at the Sacred Heart Church and a reception filled with Polish songs, dancing, and traditions!  Live bands are always awesome at weddings, and Amie and Shems’ band did not disappoint!  And the Polish food was pretty spectacular as well.

I do have to tell one negative story about the wedding though:  I got really, really car sick!  I haven’t been car sick in YEARS, but we took a Hummer limo from Amie’s house to the church, and I think the ride was over an hour long.  Luckily we made a quick pit stop half way so I was able to get some air and try to make my legs walk without turning into jelly.  I think I was a pretty terrible shade of green, too.  I can look back at it now and smile and laugh at the situation, but I was almost out of commission!  So lesson learned:  if the limo is a Hummer, I’ll take my own car.  Or a cab.  Or I’ll walk.  Or teleport.  Anything but the Hummer limo, for it is my new nemesis.  On to the slide show!

The Watchmen
November 19th, 2008

After seeing the new trailer for the upcoming Watchmen movie (based off the Alan Moore graphic novel) I have to say I’m pretty psyched to see it.  Any trailer that uses music from the film Koyaanisqatsi (one of my favourite movies of all time) and other music from the band Muse (a super awesome band from the UK) is okay in my books.  Also it’s a cool story and it just looks really slick.

This post is link-tastic!

Grace & Benny
November 18th, 2008

Here’s the slideshow from Grace & Benny’s wedding in Toronto!  Again, we lucked out with some awesome weather and were able to do portraits at Edwards Gardens with a whole lot of yellow leaves in the background.  Colour is a good thing.  My favourite part of the wedding had to be the reception, though — Grace and Benny entered the hall with a duet!  And then they kept singing more songs throughout the night!  I wish I had the courage (and the voice!) to get up like that and sing in front of a room full of friends and family!  Here’s the slideshow:

Mary Claire & Greg
November 16th, 2008

I’m shooting Mary Claire and Greg’s wedding next summer here in Kingston, and here is a sample from their engagement shoot.  The last time I saw Mary Claire was actually at Melissa and Lucas’ wedding –she provided the awesome soundtrack on violin!  If you’re looking for a talented violinist for your wedding, let me know!  I can hook you up!

Nikki & Lloyd
November 14th, 2008

Here’s the slide show for Nikki and Lloyd’s wedding at Strathmere!  The day started off in proper fashion with some Rock Band and ended with some Depeche Mode while everyone danced the night away!  The weather held out juuuuust enough so they could have their ceremony outside!  And naming the tables after awesome bands — Queen, The Rolling Stones, the Ramones, The Beatles — was a great touch!  Any wedding that features an impromptu crowd singing Bohemian Rhapsody AND references to Rock Band and World of Warcraft is okay in my books.  This is the second wedding I’ve shot at Strathmere and it’s a really cool venue — kind of a rustic feel with great staff and accomodations, located just outside of Ottawa!

Chase The Light
November 5th, 2008

Even though I love shooting weddings, it’s always fun to stretch a bit creatively and shoot other things.  I had the chance to do a photo shoot with the guys from Chase The Light, a really talented local band from Kingston, and we had a blast.  Here are some samples from the night, and if you get a chance to listen to their MySpace tracks or see a live show, I definitely recommend it!

Amy & Rob
October 10th, 2008

Here’s the slide show for Amy and Rob’s wedding near Westport at the scenic Stepping Stone Inn!  Highlights include a crazy dragonfly that I’m pretty sure had a crush on Amy, an awesome outdoor ceremony overlooking a beautiful pond (with an amazing sky as a backdrop), and a surprise song that Rob played for Amy on his guitar.  Enjoy the photos!

Erin & Rowan
October 9th, 2008

Erin and Rowan had a unique wedding……on a boat!  We toured around the Thousand Islands on the Island Queen II and got some pretty sweet sunset photos from the bow of the boat overlooking the downtown Kingston harbourfront.  Erin had cool flowers from LSP Designs and I got to meet Amelia from Spa Gals On The Go while everyone got ready at the Radisson!  Here’s the slideshow with some highlights from the day!
